I just won a book giveaway for a copy of Absalom Absalom! by Faulkner, published in 1936. I have never read it. We were assigned The Sound and the Fury in 10th grade English, but I think I will like this one better. (I couldn't get through As I Lay Dying.) Anyway, some of you know that my mom's first career was as a high school English teacher, and Faulkner is her all-time favorite author. So, I'll be reading it in honor of her, and of the part of her life she remembers more clearly than any other, because it was the time her work made her happiest. Even in the midst of her cloudy dementia, she will ask me to do things for her students.
