@darthvader42@sueden.social I did a quick check of the manual, and it has an error state where it signals a bad battery. This is discouraging. You could check if it emits any status if you disconnect a battery, then connect just some random 12v car battery for testing. Don’t worry about capacity or currents, the spec says it typically charges a battery within 6 hours, so it charges with about 1.5 amps. A powercord from a broken household appliance can be misued for this. Just make sure to connect battery last

@darthvader42@sueden.social If it works: For our emergency light systems we discourage the use of car batteries, they are highly optimized for starting a car, and are very sensible to not being fully charged. If you plan on keeping the ups running always, that should not be an issue. Else, look for non car batteries, dedicated UPS batteries maybe. Be careful with something completely different like Lifepo batteries, they can be overcharged over time.
