@darthvader42@sueden.social If it works: For our emergency light systems we discourage the use of car batteries, they are highly optimized for starting a car, and are very sensible to not being fully charged. If you plan on keeping the ups running always, that should not be an issue. Else, look for non car batteries, dedicated UPS batteries maybe. Be careful with something completely different like Lifepo batteries, they can be overcharged over time.

@do3cc@mastodon.social Thanks a lot for your help. I don't have a spare car battery here and disassembling my car for this is too much effort. Therefore I've ordered a replacement battery for the UPS and will send it back in case the whole thing is broken.
