A few days after the first parade, construction begins on the floats that will participate in the 'Ato Matsuri' (後祭 - July 24th)😅 This second round of float building is completed by July 21st. Once again the larger hoko floats are pulled a short distance to make sure they are ready for the parade.

  • After 154 years Taka-yama (鷹山) rejoined the festival as the 34th float. Damaged in a flood in 1826, the original float was then destroyed by fire in 1864. But why has it taken so long to restore? Well, it costs around 200 million yen to rebuild and decorate a lost float!😨
