I feel like my career in tech thus far has been characterized mostly by interacting with things and learning that I Do Not Like Them. Software as a service? Fuck that, this shit is infinitely replicable, why are we rent seeking? New tech? It is most certainly a grift peddled by the most annoying people in the world. Software product that actually tries to solve real problems? Damn, too bad those problems cannot actually be fixed by an app

I got into this industry because I thought that I would work on Cool Shit and Make the World a Better Place but I've come to learn that the things I used to think were cool are actually evil under the hood and actively making the world a worse place is way more profitable than doing the right thing. And here I am making some of the most boring software I could have ever imagined to exist, not necessarily making the world worse but I struggle to see how it makes it much better
