In other words, the phrase "birds evolved out of T. Rex" LITERALLY MEANS "birds evolved out of dinosaurs" If the usage she's critiquing is what she's saying word for word, this is even underscored by the phrasing. It says "out of", not "from", which is what people usually would say for evolution from a specific species, and it says "T. Rex", not "T-Rexes" or something, which indicates "T Rex" has some kind of class/concept meaning here
