@DavidM_yeg@beige.party True - but there's an important additional insight: Mussolini, Hitler, Dollfuss, Franco, Pinochet, etc never won overall majority electoral support - not even of those voting, let alone the whole population - but they were ALL engineered into power by other parts of 'the Establishment' - royalty, aristocracy, military top-brass, oligarchs, high court, etc... Today's equivalent in the US would be, say, the Electoral College breaching, perhaps not even the letter of the law, but accepted electoral conventions...
