today i got a crazy idea
my old laptop has somewhat decent specs, so i repurposed it as a backup server. it has a slot for a potential DVD drive, which is taken up by a fake plastic thing that it came with to not leave the hole empty
my dad's old laptop is too slow and to be repurposed. maybe for some basic tasks if i put linux on it, but even my old laptop is way more powerful, so there's no point. but it has a DVD drive
so i thought... what if i move the DVD drive from my dad's old laptop to mine? after all, what could go wrong? sure, both laptops are from different brands (acer and lenovo), and the shape of the laptop is slightly different, but surely, thats not a problem :neocat_3c:

so anyway, it doesn't fit but the connector just barely reaches the motherboard, so it works, even if it has a little bit of the case outside the laptop :neocat_woozy: i tested it by putting a the 1993 mario movie and VLC was able to read it
