hot take: the fact neither gitlab nor gitea/forgejo nor github have ever considered it worthwhile to be able to locally test and run CI actions is a massive oversight that make for an absolute nightmare of debugging unless you basically remove all logic from your actions and just have them run scripts you can also use locally also: the github "marketplace" style approach of just importing someone else's code was a terrible idea, it's all the problems of excessive dependencies in the ecosystem of every "modern" programming language but made worse and trusted with all your prod secrets
