@christineburns@mastodon.green The Canadian media is also sheltering Pierre Poilievre the same as the British media sheltered Farage and the other Brexit boys. Poilievre, who can't get security clearance but is still somehow sllowed to be official opposition leader of Canada, just went to visit Farage and he went to Germany for secret meetings, after his party hosted the AfD leader last year...radio silence by the corporate media. "The persecution of one of the very few journalists to attempt that scrutiny – me – was both necessary and performative. It shut down the reporting for years. It silenced me at the peak of the story. And it was also a punishment intended as a warning. It worked...It infected the authorities too. I’ve watched the Met police drop investigation after investigation into cases against multiple Brexit-related political actors...You won’t know that, of course, because, like my trial, it was barely reported.
