CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IN BRITISH SCHOOLS
Corporal punishment in British state schools, and also in private schools receiving any element of public funding, was banned by parliament in 1987
Three years after I left school.

@Tattooed_Mummy@beige.party My dad told me how his hand got struck so hard that to this day he finds it hard to use that hand. Glad to see the end of corporal punishment in schools, absolutely barbaric treatment.

@Tattooed_Mummy@beige.party My secondary school still had the cane when I started in 1981, although they voluntarily stopped using it a couple of years later, well before the government ban came in.
