I don’t often shop in this shopping centre. I had to find a specific shop so went to look it up on the giant You Are Here poster map with a store index. They’ve replaced it with a giant touch-screen you have to operate, clicking in & out of pages while the nearest 107 people follow along. Probably shows ads too. (I didn’t use it.) A waste of time. A waste of the customer’s and planet’s energy. The poster map was at-a-glance simple. It worked for decades. Such a stupid case of #enshittification.

    @CiaraNi@mastodon.green Also, besides all that, it's yet another complete misunderstanding of what the original thing does for people. They™️ think every visitor came to visit exactly one shop & they know the name / category (including spelling) - but that's not how people work. A primary function of any map is orientation; where am I & what else is here? This isn't explicit in most people's minds, such that they could describe the need - but they have a worse experience when it's absent.
