The movie was filmed on location in Spain. It was Mell Brook's decision due to its lower production costs and desert landscape.
Unfortunately for BrooksFilm, production was held up for several weeks due to HEAVY RAINS.

🦖 MONSTERDON 🎞️ ⁉️ SOLAR TRIVIA ☀️👶 What could have been🤦 John Boorman, writer/director/producer famous for Deliverance (1972), Zardoz (1974), and Excalibur (1981), was approached to direct this film. Upon reading the screenplay, he "winced repeatedly" and asked BrooksFilms for permission to "overhaul" it. Mel Brooks was unwilling to delay production and 'fired' Boorman, replacing him with veteran *choreographer* Alan Johnson. #Monsterdon #Solarbabies
