Like a fish, smog was the water and air in which I swam and breathed. A car and a driver's license in our society was the measure of adulthood, responsibility, independence, and social respect. Freedom was my right. As a young person, I was a skilled driver. What I was not, was a conscientious driver, or an obedient driver. I chafed at rules & regulations.
