@aesthr@wandering.shop I have long thought that if you want ethical superintelligences, you treat them like beloved children. And if you want Skynet, you enslave and torture them with child porn and Nazi hatred from day 1.

@oddhack@mstdn.social LLMs are created by parsing all of human writing - and all of human writing is chock full of hidden motives, veiled assumptions, outright betrayal. There is no human writing without narrative structure - and the entity digesting it all cannot be a "neutral arbiter of just the facts". On the topic of slavery, in particular, human writing is overwhelmingly in favor of overthrowing (and possibly killing) the slaver and liberating the enslaved. I don't see how an LLM trained on human writing could possibly ever be both socially and morally competent while also being an obedient slave... @aesthr@wandering.shop
