Wonder of wonders, a DB-organised Rail Replacement Bus service was 35 minutes early! This means that I managed to get the 15:04 ICE 556 to Köln Hbf. Which was delayed, naturally. This a lovely venerable ICE 2 called Bautzen/Budyšin, and I am finally able to order some lunch, and enjoy the 5 hours of train ahead of me…

It's good to be back on an ICE. Calm, (relatively) quiet, comfortable, and the scenery just passes you by, sometimes at ny00my speeds, sometimes much more sedately. You can listen to music and get lost in a computer, or look out the window at the pretty. Or, I have ADHD, ¿por qué no los dos? Or read a book, or listen to a podcast… This is the ultimate in productive relaxation for me. I definitely see why some people find the lifestyle of sitting on an ICE daily appealing. This is more of a problem if you are trying to get somewhere in some semblance of “on time". Then the anxiety can easily go through the roof, this is DB after all. But if you're not limited by timing... Enjoy it. #Interrail
