Fun fact: When I was a child, my stupid little kiddie account paid something like 3-4% interest. This was normal - banks actually paid you for lending them your money, because that's how the system is supposed to work.
Then they discovered they could get away with not doing that & never looked back.
Also, you could go to the bank & withdraw for free. Basically they hadn't invented trickling your money out of your pockets & into theirs & we pro'lly shouldn't have let them do that.
