@cstross@wandering.shop 80s cyberpunk took it from reality. The authors noticed the sentiment and those visions and projected them to the logical conclusion. Techbros are the architects of cyberpunk they tried to warn us about. Cybernetics were about control. Stafford Beer's visions of invisibly controlling the society sound dystopian now, they were the blueprint for what we understand as dystopia today.
