«I asked why this was being repeated without opposition. Was it just sales fluff? The answer was a lot more interesting…Executives at their customers were saying absurd things about achieving 100x productivity, and this meant that if any executive at the vendor said that these gains were not plausible, it would undermine the credibility of the customer’s executive, be perceived as an attack (or heresy), and possibly result in an enterprise contract cancellation.» Very good read on "AI" mania and how it has resulted in a prisoner's dilemma where nobody wants to be the first to crack for fear of being excommunicated, or of embarrassing others. https://ludic.mataroa.blog/blog/ai-mania-is-eviscerating-global-decision-making/

It also contains some practicable advice for people caught up in the meat-grinder. I would summarize that advice as: - if you're in a tenable position and trying to continue Getting Shit Done, let everyone else's mania go, you can't fix it. keep your head down and play the game of trying to achieve goals, even if it means lying about "AI" use to appease chattering heads - if you're in an untenable position where you're being drowned by reviewing slop, treat it as if you have already been fired and begin looking for a new position now.

@SnoopJ@hachyderm.io I read this as "Unaccountable executives causing huge social damage to save face." This is an example of a capitalist, corporate social structure catastrophically failing. Let's get back to democracy, extreme antitrust enforcement enforcement, and strict progressive taxation please!
