@TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world it would mean they would not need to reduce fertilizer use as much as they would be required to otherwise, or install expensive runoff diversion infrastructure. Some bivalves like oysters have other benefits to landlubbers too, in reducing erosion and improving overall water quality

@dantheclamman@scicomm.xyz So just let the runoff reach the ocean and allow farms of bivalve filter feeders clean the water?
