The funniest thing about that post is that nobody even questioned the 2 GB browser tab. Somewhere along the way we all just accepted that as perfectly normal.

    @fribbledom@mastodon.social I mean these days people use web apps for everything and you rarely install actual desktop apps. 2GB for those would be fine, so it "feels right" that web apps need more memory too.

    @fribbledom@mastodon.social I had one take up over 64GB of memory and caused my system to deadlock from the insane OOM pressure.
