@kdkorte@fosstodon.org Anything to justify power, I suppose. So they just morph the philosophy just so to make it fit into their narrow world view (Vance comes to mind), and then call it your own.

@AAKL@infosec.exchange I think both extremes play it extremely well; they find philosophical approaches that make a complex world easy to grasp and forget that the works normally contain some hefty restrictions, e.g., Marx calling for collectivism only after we became enlightened enough to share fairly. Extreme forms of Christianity, e.g., praying for a favorable outcome from a judge, are another one.
