Wth why are people becoming more pro-AI (or at least AI neutral) I don't understand

    I think I have a case of moral nihilism and that's going to stick with me for a while (or even forever). Opinions are so varied that there's really no such thing as a definitive solution that satisfies everybody.

    @bluestaggo@wetdry.world nonsense has a higher marketing budget than sense nobody needs to say "don't eat rusty nails" but corpos will spend billions for international advertising blitzes convincing you of the awesome lifestyle you too could have if only you ate *their* brand of rusty nails

    @bluestaggo@wetdry.world there is one theory in social psychology that might explain it: cognitive dissonance (Festinger, 1957). REALLY short: Our minds like it, if our thoughts and actions align. We don’t like "AI", but use it? There’s dissonance. We don’t like it, but action has been already taken. So we may shift our view instead.
