Not *trying* to play one or *dabbling* in playing, but actually mastering an instrument. Because the hard truth of is that it takes years to get there. And the path is painful in so many ways: Learning scales is incredibly boring, learning to play fast is mind-numbingly tedious. And then there are things like reading sheet music, ear training, keeping time, transcription and a million of other small things that good musicians need to master. Master as in "I can confidently apply these things even though I am stressed out on stage or in a recording session". And yet, all the dullness and pain is offset by the sheer joy of performing for other people and with other people. This is where the magic happens and where memories of a lifetime are made. And this is also something all the "prompting" in the world will never achieve. Good thing, too. #music #noai
