@mrmasterkeyboard@mastodon.social iirc I got XNU building for fun once with only minor references to an out of date article, but I hit a wall trying to get the KernelCaches rebuilt or something(idk this was a year ago I don't remember it too well)

@mox@social.4572.fyi I only really experiment with older XNU. Newer XNU is way harder because of Apple Silicon security, arm64e, many more dependencies, the kernel is way bigger, etc. Older XNU has basically none of that and is way easier to hack on... especially when you can build the kernel on an M4 in under 20 or so seconds... ;3
