One reason i was always enamored with that stretch of the 344 is that on the paper topo maps, i still showed the railway passing behind the old store store, and there were many "village" names along that 19km stretch between Carrilon and Grenville, names that are mosty gone because jpw all "Chatham" due to forced mergers. However Canadian topo maps still show Cushing (where store is) and Greece,s point and Stonefield.

    And leaving Cushing, one gets into open space on the "reservoir" for the Carillon dam (and 20m lock for boats). The road rides atop the long dyke built to keep water. On the left the ground is bellow water levcel on right. They did concert the railway on lef to bike path, but you see nothing as you are well below water level in the trees.
