You know what I miss about technology these days?
When I was a teenager, it was a common occurrence when I'd see someone use some new gadget and envy them. It felt like these things gave you superpowers.
This just doesn't happen any more. Software updates are terrifying, not exciting. Literally the only time I was somewhat excited, albeit skeptical, about new tech in the last 10 years, it was the Apple M1. And yeah, that one did not disappoint me coming from a 2012 retina MacBook.

In particular, I always drooled over newer phones. Someone, somewhere, always had a cooler phone than I did. More features, more interesting form factor, cool gimmicks, all that. Modern phones are just locked-down slabs of glass and metal that are awkward to use because ergonomics went out the window a long time ago. Nothing exciting about them whatsoever. I bought my current phone not because it's a good one, but because it was the least shitty offering on the market at the time.
