@unfa@mastodon.social @nielso@digitalcourage.social I know from my online distributor, the Orchard, that they are working on more clear agreements on the matter, so you as a musician (or label if you as a musician sold your soul already by giving the mechanical rights away), have a say in what your music can be used to. I have seen similar from Believe. Hopefully, this will eventually make the bad actors consider not scraping. But nothing seems to stop atm to be honest.

  • @mosgaard@uddannelse.social @unfa@mastodon.social Well, by German law, any music released in Germany in any way can be licensed by GEMA (the only German collecting society) to AI training. Even though if you as a musician are not a member of GEMA! Musicians have to opt-out actively in written form (I did). If a piece has more than one composer, all composers must opt-out, otherwise licensing the music to AI training by GEMA is still legal. Yet the news hasn't spread about it, even though this regulation has been active since about one year now. GEMA explicitly states AI training as possible usage (in German): https://www.gema.de/de/w/erweiterte-kollektivlizenzen
