But if someone invented a new vehicle that was 10x faster but emitted 10x more pollution and frequently killed its passengers, we would not change society to adopt it. We'd ban it. LLMs are a scam. @lproven@social.vivaldi.net The article you shared is terrible, clearly written by someone who hasn't used AI. Those who don't like something need to offer an alternative, don't just "oppose the war" then vote for the guys who brought the war. Don't drum up climate change when you are not carbon neutral yourself! I am from Iraq BTW and I find his comparison to be very offensive

@lproven@social.vivaldi.net cars are 10x faster than horses and cause more pollution, airplanes are even worse Both have far deadlier accidents than horses yet we adopted them, not ban them. History shows things didn't work for the horses crowd. Is AI progress good for humanity? yes if society was prepared, but we are not prepared, and not even preparing. However, one thing I know for sure, I don't want to be the one riding horses when most people are in cars an airplanes.
