@cripamphibie@mastodon.online @dansup@mastodon.social When assemblers arrived it was a big step forward, then compilers and interpreters made our lives even easier. Back in the day we had to debug the compiler output because it wasn't perfect. Many were also skeptical about compilers and performance of compiled code. Years later it became the most common way to code I think prompt engineering is not very much different, just has a lower barrier to entry, and we are still baby steps now

Bluesky decentralization is great for PDS but limited to on the appview side Threads is "federated" but good luck moving lol Maybe we are just promising something that's not fully baked :-) But yeah in a sense, talk about the benefits - a language they understand - and...

You can transfer your social graph but lose everything else (posts, private messages, likes bookmarks, everything is lost). I would not call this switching nor changing user name, that's a social graph copy to a new account

@Edent@mastodon.social @blu3id@mastodon.social ugh, spam is an industry I remember years ago a group of users used our service to coordinate twitter attacks by creating massive threads (at the time, we were the only service that lets you schedule threads), dozens of accounts creating 100+ post threads of , so it's thousands of spam tweets/second The result? We limited threads to only 10 posts in the free plan and the service sucked for all free users... Few rotten applies just had to rui...

My suggestion is to reduce authentication options, and use social stats to determine if the user needs moderation or not. also give different weights to different platforms i.e. if they connected LinkedIn and have > 100 followers then no moderation, X then 200, Github 10 contributions and must be over a period etc

@strypey@mastodon.nzoss.nz I think each of us lives in a bubble, usually of like minded people I deal with millions of social media people, *most* of them don't care about federation, they are not technical. If you explain it's an open platform, sure, but don't try to explain federation to non-techies, you lost them already when you said federation. Talk about portability, openness etc, federation is not something they care about BTW I know many techies most of them still don't...
