  • Agreed that AI slop is a problem for scientific publishing (and the information ecosystem at large). But what's missing here is any mention of consequences for those who produce and submit it. "AI" errors don't just appear in papers. They are there because of specific decisions, most proximally the decision by authors (or maybe "authors") to use extruded academic-looking text in their submissions. >>
