@karolherbst@chaos.social I 100% agree that power does not equate merit, but merit can be a way to gain power, which would not be luck alone. So IMO, giving the benefit of the doubt is a better attitude than pure contempt... which I guess applies to most social situations 😅

    @mupuf@social.treehouse.systems Yeah, I'm not arguing that nobody has skills or there isn't merit in what one is doing However, why isn't somebody better suited in your position? There always is somebody like that somewhere, so why not them? Why do you have the interests you have? Did you make a conscious decision on where you want to develop skills? Sure people work hard to achieve something, and I don't want to take that away, but that doesn't mean it's the reason for where we are
