@mupuf@social.treehouse.systems Yeah, I'm not arguing that nobody has skills or there isn't merit in what one is doing However, why isn't somebody better suited in your position? There always is somebody like that somewhere, so why not them? Why do you have the interests you have? Did you make a conscious decision on where you want to develop skills? Sure people work hard to achieve something, and I don't want to take that away, but that doesn't mean it's the reason for where we are

@karolherbst@chaos.social @mupuf@social.treehouse.systems I think having a certain shape of autism does make you better at doing certain things. The unfair part is that some skills are considered useful while others aren't. So, a person is never better than the next, but a person can be particularly good at one thing and in this world being good at certain things gives you an advantage. I wouldn't put it as being all luck tbh (although I guess having the "right" skills is luck). That's not true especially in the open source field where lots of people are hired because do the work they do voluntarily.

@karolherbst@chaos.social I agree that luck/random chance is an essential component of everything, but how is that reducing the legitimacy of some people's position? Yes, the set of circumstances that allowed this person to be in this position are unfathomably numerous, but all that matters is: is this person suitable for the job?
