@karolherbst@chaos.social I agree that luck/random chance is an essential component of everything, but how is that reducing the legitimacy of some people's position?
Yes, the set of circumstances that allowed this person to be in this position are unfathomably numerous, but all that matters is: is this person suitable for the job?

@mupuf@social.treehouse.systems though my point, or at least that I tried to make is, that it's a bit silly to argue that a persons opinion has automatically more weight due to their position like there are sometimes incompetent people, or sometimes people with skills make bad predictions of things Or sometimes a random person isn't heard on a subject they have a more correct opinion on than somebody in a position of power and we have to take that in mind when discussing what a famous dude said or didn't say
