Good golly—reminding me of a similar break under Sunset Boulevard several miles west between UCLA and the Bel-Air Country Club. Also so big it took forever to fix.
This intersection has been incredibly important in my life. That small yellow sign to the left is Book Soup and the building with Supreme logos—directly across the street—used to be Tower Records.

@Holberg@mstdn.social so up near the actual break, the place that has the Rocky and Bulwinkle, can you remember what restaurant that was around 1980? I swear I ate there before and my old brain can’t remember.
