Wtf are LLMs achieving that’s worthwhile?

@mushroom_man@infosec.exchange In the minds of the people I've spoken to who say "it's just a tool" to shut down others, lots - the thought is to convey in discussions with such people that a thing having some practical value doesn't override its harms. Personally I see nothing worthwhile coming from the platforms we're talking about (I can entertain the idea that bespoke LLM usage in medical research may have enabled some worthwhile stuff, but that seems entirely distinct from the kind of "AI" being discussed)
