Obviously, a certain amount of "training" is prudent, particularly regarding safety, maintenance, storage, carry, and marksmanship, but the amount training that is actually effective is minuscule. By far, the most relevant factor when it comes to firearms is temperament, and some people simply do not have the temperament to be allowed access to firearms, including many people professionally tasked with carrying and using them.

Witness the ICE agent who shot and killed the man in Maine this past week. Even his own family members describe him as a dangerously violent man who should never be allowed access to firearms. Such men gravitate to the military, security, police, prison industrial complex, are all too often mentally unhinged by their experiences, and yet, these are the very men whom the gungrabbers think should be the only ones permitted to have and use firearms.
