Failure teaches, if you're open & able to learn. Most of those at the pinnacle of power and privilege have not had the opportunity to learn much about the world. And there's an amazing human defense against learning from criticism. Since the privileged often believe that they are personally deserving of their good fortune, they categorize critics as jealous haters who are against them for petty personal reasons. I see this everywhere from media to politics to journalists to nations to neighbors!
