there is a temptation to simply "fight the evil organization", and there are definitely times that you need to do that. but those fights are always short-term. most fights, and _all_ of the long-term fights, are fights to change the rules that the organization operates under so that the good factions _within_ the organization can wrest control from the sociopaths who are just gaming the system for their own benefit

this insight is somewhat paraphrased from @pluralistic@mamot.fr and he has many suggestions for how to do this, so that our tech corporations operate according to more prosocial incentives, but I couldn't find a place where he's written this down. (I heard it from him in person once as a corollary to a talk he just gave)
