this insight is somewhat paraphrased from @pluralistic@mamot.fr and he has many suggestions for how to do this, so that our tech corporations operate according to more prosocial incentives, but I couldn't find a place where he's written this down. (I heard it from him in person once as a corollary to a talk he just gave)

but I guarantee you: if you are complaining about something Microsoft is doing, there is a big group of Microsoft employees reading what you're saying and dying inside because they WANT to do the thing you want, but they are prevented from doing so for reasons that they can't talk to you about
