China's single time zone demonstrates that people will adapt to whatever numbers are on the clock. I mildly prefer year round Standard Time just because it's closer to Solar Time, but that's because of my niche interests. Most people do not care about that. They very much do care about not having to dick with clocks twice a year and suffer from stationary jet lag. Year round Standard Time, year round Daylight Time, world-wide GMT - all would be fine. Stop messing with clocks!

@jef@mastodon.social I like DST. It keeps things weird. I love how Arizona does not not use DST, but the Navajo Nation does. But a smaller reservation inside the Navojo Nation does not use DST. Existance isn't supposed to be simple and logical, it's supposed to be whimsical and weird.

@jef@mastodon.social I've said this before: we should just set the clocks six hours ahead permanently, so I can sleep till noon and still have most of the day ahead of me.

@jef@mastodon.social let's just all run on GMT! Also, why does everyone open and close businesses on the half hour? Pi Bar is the only exception I know of. Bar staff can arrive at 3pm and they are on time!

@jef@mastodon.social I wish we had two times. Locally and personally, pure sidereal. Noon at your current location and so strictly speaking its later 200 feet to your east. Thats how we live, go to lunch. Winter, sun comes up later, goes away earlier. Then UTC coordinated 24 hour time. Centered not in "Greenwich", whatever that is, but something sensible, like our chicken coop or the Azores or something. Your phone can calc whatever when you need to know train sched or something.
