@fasterandworse@hci.social "potential" - yep, this is an EXCELLENT point. It reminds me of a management truism (that does have some research behind it) that men are promoted based on potential, while women have to overperform to be considered. I haven't seen the parallel research, but I would be surprised if this doesn't also apply to race differences as well. AI has the all the confidence and potential of a mediocre white man.
