@AeonCypher@lgbtqia.space @silverwizard @tinker@infosec.exchange The problem here is that the programmers don't get to make the decisions, some corporate stooge does and he's been wooed/fooled into believing he won't have to pay people for work anymore by just using the magic of AI. Of course it's all moot since as all these data centers go online they will simply hasten our demise climate wise. But hey, some people will happily not have to think those few remaining years I guess.

    @nurglerider@mastodon.social @silverwizard @tinker@infosec.exchange What evidence is there that he thinks you won't have to pay programmers anymore. In fact, one of my quotes contradicts that. Also, no, data centers aren't going to destroy the climate _unless_ you believe the #AI #techbro hype that we're at the precipice of #ASI. We aren't. This is a bubble. There is zero chance that the AI datacenter growth happens to 2030 the way papers have projected. There aren't even enough transformers going to be made in the world to make that happen. What is going to happen is a massive economic collapse.
