The shitty way that Torvalds made this statement about AI use in the Linux kernel is fucking infuriating. If you want those of us against AI to leave, then I'll leave. I've been moving closer and closer to BSD over the past few months and this statement is speeding up that process.
I've been running Linux for more than 30 years and dammit, now I'm fucking pissed! I fucking hate AI now more than ever. If you're okay with the terrible ethics of AI, then use it. Just stop telling me that I should be or I'll be left behind. Fucking leave me behind. I don't care!

@cmccullough@polymaths.social @nixCraft@mastodon.social was on Linux my first two years (mid-90s), then moved to BSD and never looked back. The stability, consistency, and overall ethos is far more conducive to what I was to do with computers (use them for stuff, not spend time trying to make them work correctly)
