There are 12v lead acid battery chargers for PV that should take care of not damaging the battery. IIRC you can get them under 20 USD

@mxf8bv@mas.to yeah, I'm more worried about how to wire it in cleanly and safely. The panel and even the charge controller are much more straightforward.
