One of the other advantages of the New Meta for my life is that I have time to make breakfast now in the morning.
Of course you have to balance that against what is economical but I know one strange trick that makes people my age and younger furious.
(It's almost always cheaper done at home, as long as you know what you're doing and mindful about how you're doing it.)

You see a lot of memes and comics these days about "Oh, I'll cook at home to save money on takeout, oh no, I spent more ingredienting up than I did on the takeout" and that statement is actually only true if you're going plate for plate. If you use up that whole set of ingredients you absolutely get that plate cost down considerably further than the restaurant ever can. Of course, you're paying in your time.
