@8r3n7@mstdn.ca Oh, it looks like ~1400 kcal is actually a huge overestimation. I got the number from my Apple Watch, but they're apparently known to overestimate by a wide margin.
Looking online at several websites it seems that it's more like ~500 kcal per session. That's a bummer.

@collectifission@greennuclear.online My Apple watch (series 8) seems reasonable. Nothing better to compare it to. Watch estimates 240 “active” calories (290 total) for 30 min of rowing. The rowing machine estimated 350 or so, without biometrics or other data. Whereas the watch knows my height/weight/age, and can read my heart rate (and other things? blood oxygen?).
