Please credit it to the artist, or if you do not know who the artist is, leave a little note that it is not your own. Two reasons for this: 1) I'm trying to find more artists to follow. I've had a bunch of times when I go "oh cool artist" at someone sharing a pic, only to scroll through their media tab and see that it's just a mishmash of drawings taken without attribution. Let's clear up the confusion beforehand with some good clear communication okay? 2) This makes it easier for me to help you find the artist. I'm actually pretty good at tracking down artists from uncredited pics, even when their signature or watermark has been cropped out by unscrupulous distributors. If you like the artist's work enough to share it, don't you want me to help you find more of it?

@aisling@critters.gay yeah, when I share someone else's artwork, I always include a link or artist name if I know it, or at least specify it's from my collection or found on the internet. (It would be useful if Android stored the URL for saved images. Or even other metadata too like E621 tags.) Sometimes I'll also plug it into SauceNAO so I can provide a link and artist name even if I don't already know it.

@aisling@critters.gay Given it's really difficult to tell LLM images from human images nowadays, the source is one of the better ways to determine if the artwork is human-made. A lot of genAI spam will come from sites that value quantity over quality while a lot of human works will have an actual artist with a distinctive style and a history showing a progression of work.
