putting all our eggs in one open research information basket is risky. what alternatives are there to OpenAlex?
I get they have a business to run, infra costs money, and that sorting is an existential threat to them

@chartgerink@akademienl.social The problem is that OpenAlex *is* the alternative -- exactly what I started building my courses around because I don't want to lock my students into the ecosystem of Web of Science, Scopus, etc. which they might not have access to later. I guess we could self-host the dataset, but that is not a sustainable long-term setup for my students either.
