@fname@kamloops.social The law itself hasn't gotten nearly the amount of attention it deserves. As I understand it, in November 2025, Parliament passed it, thinking it would affect a few hundred thousand people, and nobody really paid attention. A few months ago, I heard on #CBC that because of the law millions of Americans are now Canadian citizens, and they need only submit some paperwork to prove it.

@mpjgregoire@cosocial.ca @fname@kamloops.social You have to wonder the implications on health care to have a lot more citizens paying the provincial insurance premium but not income taxes.
